College Prowler Take
Students relish exploring the off-campus dining opportunities. Whether or not they have a car, students seem to find new gems and old favorites with ease. Food in Lancaster is a serious business for Franklin & Marshall students, and some of the restaurants can compete with top places from New York or Philly! Lancaster seems to have a limitless supply of small, charming restaurants, as well as a fully-stocked range of major restaurant chains. The variety is never ending, and you can always find a new place to explore both near campus and downtown. Health conscious and picky eaters will have an easy time finding food by venturing off campus to one of the many unique Lancaster eateries. Pizza, Chinese, and sushi restaurants have free delivery to campus and the surrounding area. The local diners, such as the Lyndon Diner and Waffle House, have become student favorites during “reading days” for the bottomless coffee cups and all-night hours.

There is actually a large variety...
There is actually a large variety of restaurants, pubs, and bars off campus. Most of them are located away from campus, but it may not be more than a 10- to 15-minute walk. I suggest walking because parking is scarce in Lancaster. However, there are also three or four nice restaurants located directly on campus, including Iron Hill and Doc Holiday's.

There is a surprising amount of good restaurants for such a small city. Additionally, you can get good food for low prices or enjoy fine dining.

there's hardly anything in lancaster
D
There aren't any places for students to go with other students besides iron hill, if you're willing to drop 20 bucks on a meal. The food's worth it if you order right. In Lancaster though, the food is low rent and gross, or good for 30-40 bucks a meal--so basically students only eat there on parents weekend. Overall, Lancaster is not a very welcoming friendly city, and definitely not a great place to eat.

Tokyo Diner for sushi lovers like me! I also like Isaac’s, Panera, Doc’s, Papa John’s, My Place, and of course, Waffle House if you’re just coming from the frats! |

My friends and I are big on...
My friends and I are big on desserting since it can get expensive to eat in off-campus restaurants, but we still want to get out and enjoy the town and the different atmospheres. We’ll go out just for dessert so our cost is a little more reasonable. There are so many interesting places to go downtown. Literally, the best thing to do is just wander until you find an atmosphere that suits you. |
