Most students feel that the drug scene is noticeable, but not dominating. Like any college in the United States, drugs and alcohol are a part of the culture, but most students stay away from the party scene. Of those who do attend parties, only a few of them abuse drugs and alcohol, mostly because of the school's strict policies and the presence of the local police department. The school has made it very clear that it does not tolerate underage drinking, open containers, and the abuse of drugs on campus, which has caused a decrease in drug-related crimes on campus since 2000.
