Yes, as long as they are to the knee (or at tops, a student ID card's length from the top of the knee).

Yes you can wear shorts outside of class. Also girls can wear skirts in class

this is exaggerating a lot.

Unfortunately, this is the one comment of yVols' that I agree with.

The university is VERY strict when it comes to discipline. You can be expelled from the university for the "major sins" such as homosexuality and drinking, but you can also be called in for question on almost any little rule.

The student handbook that is signed by most incoming freshmen leaves much room for the disciplinary system to give and take where they see fit.

First of all, FHU is a Christian university, so, of course, there are more rules than that of a public institution. There is a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol, with violations resulting in suspension or expulsion. Students are not allowed to engage in any sexual activity, either, which is also grounds for suspension or expulsion. Going along with that, there is no visitation in the regular dorms between members of the opposite sex. The apartment rules allow certain visitation hours within the day, but if a member of the opposite sex is caught sneaking in or out of a dorm, he or she will automatically get community service. In terms of dress code, students can't wear shorts to chapel/class, skirts/dresses have to hit the knee, and shirts must have two inches on the shoulders. All of these rules may seem overwhelming, but they are very helpful for students who are trying to learn in a Christian environment.

Chapel attendance is required. A student is allowed 12 skips in the semester, and anything over that is grounds for club/dorm restriction or community service. Also, if you are caught scanning someone else's card or if someone is caught scanning your card, you will both suffer the same consequences. Along with chapel, class attendance is also strict. Students are allowed to miss 25 percent of any class, but anything after that results in a grade penalty; however, most teachers start penalizing after four absences.
