The weather in Southwest Tennessee is about as typical and unpredictable as the rest of the weather in Tennessee and the South. At the beginning of the school year in August, the weather is usually hot or warm, and it might start getting cooler by the end of September or beginning of October. It stays cold from the end of November until mid-March. Although snowfall is rare, during the winter of 2010, FHU received 10 inches of snow. During the winter, some days can be very mild, but most are in the 40s.

The rainy season can be anywhere from September to November to the springtime in March and April. It's all very unpredictable, and it seems that every year something new occurs. In the fall of 2009, it rained for almost a month straight, with maybe one or two days of sunny relief.
