College Prowler Take
Furman students are generally crazy about their school. Although it’s not for everyone, the ones who decide to attend usually find it a great match. The academic programs at Furman are a huge draw. Students appreciate the quality of education they are getting and the personal attention they get from their professors. And although the workload can be stressful at times, Furman’s idyllic campus makes it difficult to sustain any level of stress for too long. It’s true the Furman bubble may seem out of touch with the real world at times. Sometimes, it seems like you are surrounded by homecoming queens, class presidents, and valedictorians. But despite a few complaints, no one seems to want to leave. Just ask anyone on campus. Furman students love to talk about why they love their school.

I have loved being at Furman, and I would not trade it for any other school. |

I was shocked at first by the ‘Bible-belt’ mentality that everyone seemed to have, but you learn to find your own niche. There are people who are not so conservative, and then you learn how to appreciate the ones who are. Learning how to overcome those differences had been a great life lesson. |

After growing up with the Georgia Bulldog football scene, game days often make me wish I’d gone to a bigger school. That’s only 10 days a year, though, and there’s never another time when I’d rather be anywhere else! |

You get a great education, but you don’t really get a good picture of what the real world is like. A lot of times, I wish I was somewhere else, but I’ve made some good friends. You could do better, but you could definitely do worse. |

I have had a very positive experience at Furman. Although I warn you, I once read that Furman was called ‘the country club of the South’ and they were not kidding! If that is not your style then I would look elsewhere, but you are never going to find a group of such positive, dedicated kids, all perfectly dressed and smiling 24-7. Sometimes, it’s creepy. |
