College Prowler Take
The weather in Greenville is hot and humid in the summers, and cold and wet in the winters. However, the weather is much milder than any Northern winters or deep Southern summers. It does seem to rain a lot, so bring plenty of rain gear. But the rainy days are worth it when students are able to enjoy Furman’s lush green vegetation on warm spring days. The most frustrating aspect of Greenville’s weather is its unpredictability. It can be sunny and warm one day, and cold and rainy the next. This makes the weather difficult to prepare for, but the conditions are always bearable. Furman has a beautiful fall, a little snow in the winter, and a breezy, sunny spring.

Just like anywhere in the South,...
Just like anywhere in the South, it’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and sometimes even cold in the summer and hot in the winter. You’ll probably need a good variety of clothes for the year. Bring an umbrella too! Furman is in a valley in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it likes to rain here! |

Bring a raincoat. It is really rainy in the winter, which is doubly depressing, but other than that the fall is usually beautiful and so is spring. Pack for all seasons. So for all you deep Southerners who don’t own more than a Patagonia, it’s time to go out and buy some sweaters! |

You should bring something for every possible weather condition, and just be prepared for unexpected rain or the occasional snow storm. |

The weather is hot from September through October, mild in November and December, cold in January and February, and then mild to hot in the spring. Be ready for all weather conditions because you never know what to expect. This past spring we had some freezing days, and I only had sandals to wear! |
