Demolition, construction, and renovation are currently transforming the face of campus housing at Gannon University. The most exciting new project is the construction of a new residence hall, scheduled to open in the fall of 2011 as part of a master housing plan calling for three new residence halls to form a quad surrounding a courtyard area. The first new building will house both freshmen and upperclassmen, and will feature a convenience store and fitness areas. The freshman suites will include five beds in three bedrooms, while the upperclassmen will have four single bedrooms. Each unit will have a kitchenette and two separate bathrooms. The new building will also provide a community kitchen on each floor, as well as study and social lounges, some of which will have gas fireplaces.
Gannon currently has three residence halls for freshmen and several campus apartments for upperclassmen. The University recently purchased more housing for its students, so options like single apartments are becoming more available. Campus buildings and classrooms are only a few blocks away from almost all of the campus housing locations, and the buildings are cleaned and maintained rather well. Overall, the ease of the housing process and lottery, the resident community, and the social atmosphere of campus housing at Gannon are top-notch.
