I love living in the dorms on campus because there is such a great community!

I love living on a dry campus. The students know that it is one before they come here, so they can't complain because they made the choice to come to Gardner-Webb. It is also a dry town so any access to drugs and alcohol is pretty limited. Some students still participate in those activities, but the majority of students do not.

Because Gardner-Webb is a Christian school, there are more rules than a normal college campus. It is a dry campus so no alcohol or drugs are allowed. Dorms have curfews for the opposite sex to visit and there are quiet hours. I personally don't mind the rules because they benefit me as well. Compared to other Christian schools, Gardner-Webb is pretty lenient when it comes to rules. There is no dress code or demerits. When the rules are enforced, the authority is very reasonable about doing so.

The academics at Gardner-Webb is very good. The work could be manage if you put your mind in to it. The professors will work with you and challenge you at the same time. Registration is not hard unless you have a balance, or if the student is not paying attention to it. At the university, they have a peer tutor program and a writing center for student that need more help, or need a better understanding of the subject from a student. A Lot of student are in the business or nursing program because of the reputation it gets from the public.

When I was at Gardner -Webb University, I was a Sport Management major. The classes help me understand the determination you will need to become successful in this field. The teacher were very helpful in many ways, and help you with getting a internship. They also taught you how to present yourself in a interview. The teachers has a lot of experience in class the are teaching and good help from different programs in the field. The work is not easy, but the will work with you to get the job done. The work is to help you in the future job in the field. The facility the classes are taught in is small, but we do not have big classes. The curriculum is strong , and would challenge you to want to make a difference.

Nightlife at Gardner-Webb consist of people coming together and creating there own fun. You really can not party on campus because this is not a party school. On weekends there is a sport event going on. After the event, everyone goes to Shelby, Charlotte, South Carolina, or a house party off campus. Most people has a DD when they go to parties and people travel in big groups. Underage people do not drink at the parties because they do not want the older age people to get into trouble.

The police is very strict with the honor code, underage drinking, and drug use. the first time offenders usually gets a warning such as a fine and a letter sent to there homes. They also have to do assessment before going back to campus the following semester. After your first time, they would tell you that you are can hurting your chances of continuing your education at the University. the only reason why the are so strict because the are looking out for our best interest. College is to learn and connect with others, not just for parties. Everyone is very friendly on campus and wants everyone one to succeed. If do plan to drink, do it off campus and do not tell everyone your business.

I am a music Ed major and I do not always enjoy it. It's very stressful and not always worth the scholarship that has been given.

I am a music Ed major and often times feel a little under appreciated. I get scholarship money for being a music major but sometimes with all the extra stuff that is required just to pass the class, it's unnecessary and not worth the scholarship

Even though I am not a Nursing major, Gardner Webb has one of the topped ranked nursing programs in North Carolina and the east coast! All the majors are good and work hard.

Health & Safety:
Gardner Webb has a generally clean campus. The only things that concern me are the animals around. Sometimes there are skunks or stray cats. There are ducks that live in the pond but they sometimes wander to and poop in the commons living area (apartments and suites). There could be more lights in certain areas of campus but everything is easy to deal with thus far.

It rains a lot, but here lately it hasn't. The sunrises and sunsets are absolutely breath taking. They are gorgeous.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone around campus is very friendly and will go out of their way to talk to you and ask how you are doing. I love walking around campus and see what all activities students are participating in.

Most people who live off of campus are commuters, so they are either living with their parents or living with a group of other students. The rent adds up each month and can sometimes be more expensive than room and board for on campus living. There are some apartments right across the street from campus, but most of them are within walking distance of about 5 minutes.

All of the facilities around campus are well maintained and clean. The campus is beautiful and everyone takes pride in this college.

The University police is very strict about drinking, tobacco use, and drug use. Since Gardner-Webb University is in a dry county, no alcohol is allowed on campus. The university is also a tobacco free area so it is strict about any tobacco being on campus. Most parties on campus are busted, but it doesn't keep them from happening.
College Freshman 2013-09-22T05:15:59Z
There is no nightlife for students. Occasionally there is a campus wide thing such as a magician or laser tag, but it is not very often or popular. The school is many miles away from any clubs or bars, but there is always something going on if you look hard enough.
College Freshman 2013-09-22T05:11:12Z
The campus has a strict no tobacco, drug, and alcohol rule. We are in a dry county so no alcohol can be readily purchased anyway. The campus police are friendly and very visible which makes students feel very safe. There is no curfew and people of the community and students can come and go as they please.

The athletic facilities are AMAZING! The gym is very well equipped and kept clean. There is a pool on campus that is open to everyone. There is also an indoor and outdoor rock wall. There is such a great spirit revolving around the campus when it comes to athletics, organized or not.

Being a Christian university everyone is open-minded and friendly. Walking around on campus there is an extreme diversity of people. No one really judges you on what you believe in or don't believe in. People pay more attention to actions and words than past problems.

I received a lot of financial aid. It was a hassle at times when forms got lost or when I wasn't given all of the correct forms to begin with. However, I am grateful for all the face-to-face help that I so often received. Being face-to-face made up for the electronic communication deficiencies.

Gardner-Webb is known for having the most well-rounded amount of General Undergrad classes; registration for classes is usually quick, the professors are friendly and challenging (in a good way). The work load depends on the professor, and most students study in either their dorms, the library, TSC (Tucker Student Center), or the bottom of the DCC (Dover Campus Center)--there is no lack of study spaces/hang out spots.

Guys & Girls:
You will find lots of different types of people at Gardner-Webb. Most of the girls dress nicely (casual), and from what I've seen the guys dress fairly athletically. Most of the student body is from the state of NC and areas surrounding campus; most students interests fall into the various clubs and activities a lot of which are geared towards their majors, but most clubs are accessible to all students. Guys and girls are allowed in each others dorms during certain times (although I think this rule should be more strict than it is), but Gardner-Webb is fabulous for Christian Service projects which are constantly going on. Being a small University, many relationships are close, both students and professors.

I only have one scholarship and am on a payment plan concerning loans, which make up most of my tuition. I would have liked to have been eligible for and received more scholarships.

I love being an English Major at Gardner-Webb! English majors are required to have both American and British Lit as well as other literature courses including Shakesspeare and Young Adult Lit. If you are an English Education major (which I am), a lot of the courses taken apply to the classroom setting like Structure of the English Language, which focuses on grammar. The workload consists of mostly reading and discussion online and can be overwhelming sometimes, but in general fosters lots of critical thinking and different perspectives. Some of the last classes required for English majors are workshops which can be used as internships; it depends on what your focus is concerning internships (creative writing, preprofessional writing, education, etc) but the classes are all awesome and the professors are equally so.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
