Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Don’t be fooled by notices about Alpha Chi, Psi Chi, or the dubiously acronymed Sigma Tau Delta—Geneva finds community and brotherhood outside of a Greek system. (The above are honor societies for general academics, psychology, and English respectively.) Geneva's religious convictions prevent the school from hosting Greek life.

Students hardly suffer from the absence, however. Geneva’s small size fosters the many friendships and lifelong bonds that Greek life offers. Many dorms bond like fraternities or sororities, making T-shirts to show their pride. The intense brotherhoods of Pearce and Memorial are legendary. In addition to the traditional Pearce/Memorial football game, 2010 saw a massive prank war that escalated until the administration had to shut it down.

The Strength of Community

At Geneva we do not have a Greek system. I would argue that this creates a better community for students. You build strong relationships with the people on your floors in the dorms, and some even have fun names like the brotherhood. Camaraderie and community are written into the very character of Geneva.

Greek-Less Geneva

We don't have a Greek life. It makes the environment more friendly for those who never thought of joining a fraternity or sorority like me.
