College Prowler Take

Nightlife at Geneva is not as exciting as most colleges. There are no campus parties. There are no exciting bars that offer an array of attractions with drink specials and trendy atmospheres. The bars around Beaver Falls are blue-collar bars where you can get a drink if you want. There are two bars that most students frequent—Sal’s and the Corner Tavern. The “T,” as many students call it, offers cheap drafts and bottles all the time. Sal’s is a more upscale bar in the area with pool and karaoke, but they are more expensive, even when they have specials. When students do go out, it is usually on Thursday nights because that’s when local bars offer specials. For the more exciting nightlife, you have to go to Pittsburgh. Around campus is rather dull and usually boring. If you want to have a good time outside of your room, you have to make an effort.

Nightlife at Geneva usually consists of doing schoolwork, playing video games, watching television, or visiting the opposite sex during open hours. Nights are frequently spent going to Wal-Mart or Sheetz to give a couple an excuse to hang out or to pick up necessary items.

There are some bars around campus, but most of them are typical, hole-in-the-wall establishments.

I don’t know anything about the bar scene. I’m one of those wackos that doesn’t really prefer to drink or go out.

On campus, there are no parties allowed, but I know that people who live in houses throw parties from time to time.

There are a few bars in Beaver Falls. The Corner Tavern and Li’l Joe’s to name two; however, there aren’t a lot of ‘cool’ bars around. It’s not a classic college town in that sense. Drinking isn’t allowed on campus, and off-campus parties are frowned upon, though you can find them if you’re looking for them.

‘Parties,’ ‘bars,’ and ‘clubs’ are all words that, if uttered at Geneva, may prove to be detrimental to your health. You may find yourself flogged and then hung from Old Main for all to see, just for thinking about participating in these great sins. Although this is the dogmatic mentality of many at Geneva, there are a few handfuls that disagree and will deviate from the herd’s morality. It is these individuals who establish their own sense of morality, which contrary to popular opinion, is not heretical.

What to Do if You're Not 21

The only thing to do for nightlife if you are under 21 is attending events on campus. During the week there are few campus-sponsored events. Students usually revert to playing PS2 or Xbox to fill their lonely nights if it is not a Wednesday. On Wednesday, the masses rejoice for their restraint from the opposite sex is lifted from 7 p.m.–12 a.m. However, this freedom is highly monitored with the various visiting-hour policies and restrictions.
