College Prowler Take
Many people complain about the parking situation at Geneva, but it is superb compared to the parking problems at other campuses. There are three great aspects of parking at Geneva: almost everyone can get a parking permit, parking permits are only $50 to $100, and there are always parking spaces open. The only problem is that there are few, if any, spaces right on campus in which a student can park. The Alumni Lot, however, is only a block away from Old Main and the other facilities.
Unlike most schools, Geneva offers parking permits to every student, even freshmen, although freshmen have to have an excuse for having it. Second, parking permits are a steal. Few colleges offer parking to all students that is cheaper than Geneva’s. Third, there is always a space available to students, except during Homecoming and Prospective Weekend. Students often complain about not getting a space within 50 feet of the apartments, but the Alumni Lot, which is no more than two blocks from campus housing, always has at least one space open.

Parking is becoming a growing concern on campus. As the student population continues to grow, less and less parking spots are available. It would not surprise me if Geneva has sold more parking passes than it has parking spaces. The faculty and staff don’t have adequate parking space, and the student lots, while placed in good locations, are rapidly becoming too small. |

Parking is tight at times, and you have to pay for a pass. But compared to big schools, parking is really convenient. |

The parking situation has a tendency to create some frustrations. According to the parking police, making up your own spot is unacceptable and results in a ticket. However, this is what happens when there are more parking permits given out than spaces available. |

Parking is getting worse at Geneva with more and more students having cars. The only good thing is that, compared to other schools, the cost of parking is so much cheaper. |

Although generally the parking is not that troublesome, those who wish to park in the two small lots by the apartments are in for some competition! These lots are always full, and you usually find yourself toting all of your belongings from another lot. |
