You probably shouldn't be driving when you're drunk in the first place.

Unless students are loud and obnoxious about having people over or drinking in on-campus residence halls, it’s unlikely they’ll get in trouble. Every hour on the hour RAs perform walk-throughs in the residence halls, so students should be wary of their noise level at that time. On-campus residents aren’t allowed to have candles, incense, or drinking paraphernalia in their rooms if they’re under 21. (This includes things like shot glasses, even if they are just used for decoration.) All freshman housing areas are “dry areas” meaning all alcohol is prohibited, even for visitors over 21. First time offenders of campus drinking policies have to go through a hearing process with the Office of Judicial Affairs.RAs also perform health and safety inspections twice a semester, and they’re actually pretty hardcore about it. The good thing is, RAs usually tell residents what week they will be performing inspections. The strictest thing about Mason is the parking policies. There are several 20 to 30-minute parking areas on campus, and Parking Services is constantly patrolling them, looking to give tickets.

The University is more strict with drugs than they are with alcohol, and generally smoking marijuana on campus is a stupid idea, since a lot of students get in trouble after somebody reports smelling marijuana to the police. Mason takes all drug-related offenses seriously, and it's easy to get kicked out of housing for repeat or serious offenses. This can be a real pain, since affordable off-campus housing is hard to find—especially in the middle of a semester.
