NATION's CAPITOL!!!

The atmosphere in Washington DC is extremely dynamic, urban and simply amazing. Our campus is located conveniently and in close proximity to great neighborhoods such as Dupont Circle, where you can see beautiful Edwardian-era houses, embassies and consulates, diplomatic residences, or Adam's Morgan, where you can find the best bars, clubs and hookah bars to can out, or Georgetown, a neighborhood with cobble-stoned sidewalks and shops, bars, and an international menu of restaurants. Washington D.C is also home to many professional sports teams such as the Wizards, Redskins, and Capitals. You can always take a 15 walk to the National Mall, and find yourself sitting at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, or looking up at the Washington Monument. You can use free time during the weekend to visit the Spy Museum, Visit the Black Fashion Museum, or take advantage of the free Smithsonian Museums, such as the Museum of National History, the National Gallery of Art, and so on. You can take a morning run past the White House, or attend various concerts and film festivals during the night.

Hollywood Nightlife and 24 Hr Coffee Shops

In DC there are a million things to do and about 5 or 6 different neighborhoods/areas. There is a never-ending list of 21+ nightclubs (and promoters to go along with them), the most notorious/ best are in dupont circle area with PLENTY of glitz, glamour and ostentatious actions. There are always some 18+ nights and clubs as well for those unlucky few who dont have fakes. For the more artsy crowd there is the adams morgan and U street areas with about 3 or 4 other areas like them (but not as big) that have tons of bars and restaurants, a few nightclubs that are lower key and the book shop that caters to the bohemian type. If these things dont appeal to you, there are always the BEAUTIFUL monuments to walk around at night (definitely a favorite of the students).

Campus Strictness at George Washington University

Perfection

The campus authorities are serious about academics and serious about student safety, however the university emphasizes "freedom and responsibility" motto's across campus. The university cracks down on Greek life to maintain a healthy environment free of hazing, while also supporting the system immensely. Also, after freshman year, there is limited sign-in requirements (even during freshman year) when entering a building or someones room. Pretty sweet! You never feel like someone's breathing down your neck.
