There are plenty of students who do drugs at GW—most commonly, students smoke pot, drink alcohol, and smoke cigarettes. A lot of students talk about, sell, and smoke pot on a regular basis. But for students who are not interested in drugs, there is rarely any pressure to partake. People mostly associate with others who share their views on drugs.

Alcohol is the most popular drug on campus. GW students love drinking—many taking it to excess. Study drugs, such as Adderall and Ritalin, are very popular on campus. Students pop these prescription pills before a long night at the library to stay up late writing a paper or cramming for an exam. There are some harder drugs on campus, such as cocaine and ecstasy, but everyone knows which social circles use those harder drugs, and staying away from them is easy. Harder drugs are definitely not as visible as alcohol, pot, and study drugs.
