Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

DC has a pretty regular four-season climate. When students arrive in late August, it is still very hot and muggy, and the weather stays warm until late fall when the cold front moves in. Winters are pretty cold, and most get caught off-guard by the powerful winds that can tunnel through the city. Remember to bring a wool or down coat, sweaters, long pants, and boots. In the fall and spring, students wear jeans, Capri pants, and light jackets. But get ready for some hot, hot summers when planning to stay in DC. The humidity and heat can be unbearable, so take a dip in the Hall on Virginia Avenue’s rooftop pool or City Hall’s pool to cool off, or hope your internship office is air-conditioned (don’t worry, dorms are).

Bring a variety of clothing to GW—pants, shorts, T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, jackets, and coats. You’ll need it all. And don’t forget an umbrella—rain is pretty common in the District.

I do not really know how to answer this other than that the university never cancels class when there is bad weather! When it snows and is iced, we should not have to walk all over the campus to go to class when it is dangerous. My freshman year they cancelled classes for "Snowmaggedon" and ever since then, they have not cancelled them once when they should have been.

DC Weather Is Great!

The weather in DC is generally great, during the summer it can be very dry and hot but during the school year it feels just right and not as cold as other regions. Hardly any intense snow storms When the weather is nice everyone hangs outside and there are usually lots of barbecues.
