Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are well over 100 restaurants within a 20-minute walk of campus, and you’d be hard-pressed to find many students who have bad things to say about more than two or three of them. In terms of price, speed, ethnicity, formality, and clientele, there exists a nearly indescribable variety of eateries. From the famed and beloved Tombs and Wisemiller’s, to the upscale Italian and French bistros on M street, the options are staggering. Little surprise that Hoyas report one of their favorite traditions is to go out to dinner on the dime with visiting parents whenever possible.

That said, it would impossible not to note the relative lack of cheap and quick sit-down food available near campus. College towns, usually famed for greasy-spoons and waffle houses, stand in stark contrast to the Georgetown environment. No doubt many students would say that this difference is a plus, but be advised: if you’re looking for diner-style comfort food, you won’t find it here. As is the case with most everything else in this most prestigious of DC neighborhoods, top-shelf is the name of the game. Head up Wisconsin Avenue towards Tenleytown or into the middle of the city if you’re looking for a spot to make your own eating-out headquarters.

Exquisite Georgetown Cuisine

The Georgetown area is one of the nicest suburbs in the entire nation. World class shopping is paired with superb cuisine options all along M Street and up Wisconsin. There is a great variety from nice places like 1789 to Chipotle to the famous Georgetown cupcake store. The area is vibrant, the restaurants are all close, and the experience of dining in Georgetown is amazing. Outside of Georgetown the entire city of DC is at your finger tips.
