Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

It is true that many Tech students might sometimes wish that they had chosen another, less demanding school for college. Georgia Tech is very academically demanding, to an extreme that alienates many students and parents. Many see the school as a sort of “proving ground” for professional life.

However, the size of the student body is not overly large, and it is easy for one to get involved socially and academically without straining your GPA. The rigorousness of academic life at Georgia Tech instills a rare motivation in the students there that will prepare them well for professional life. Most students feel that an education at Tech was worth all the work.

Campus Strictness at Georgia Institute of Technology

Pretty Good

Campus police are usually pretty cool. You can talk to them and they'll be nice and explain things to you, tell you where things are, or just talk. They can be a little on edge after a rash of crimes have been committed around campus, but overall they're not too bad. They don't really nose around for drunk students, so just don't be stupid and wonder into traffic or something.

Expensive and Somewhat Useless

Campus is pretty compact, and most students live on campus from what I've seen. Parking is outrageously expensive and spaces are limited and traffic can severely hamper your ability to pull out of your spot on some days. Parking garages are nice, but the reality is that most of what you will need is on or near campus.

Nice Bubble, but Watch Out

Atlanta has many sights, but it's not the nicest community. There's this thing called the Clery Act which emails us students crimes committed near campus and some of the details are more than slightly disturbing. Just keep a few friends near you when you go out to explore and there'll be many things for you guys to do.
