Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The Student Center is the hub of student activity on campus. Located in the middle of campus, it houses a computer cluster, the music listening room, a food court, a ballroom and a theater. Many functions are held in the ballroom, and the theater regularly holds free screenings of popular movies, along with occasional concerts. The Student Center also houses Burdell’s, which is similar to a convenience store, and the campus post office. The CRC really is as great as it sounds. It has so many different activities and equipment available to students, ranging from a water slide to karate classes.

The library is also a very popular place on campus. It is a bit out-dated, but it is still incredibly useful. It has two computer clusters, one of which is very good for group work, a meeting room, and a space that students can reserve to practice multimedia presentations. Many students go to the library to study, as it has six floors full of tables and spaces to study, but it is also a very social place. Many come to study with their friends, but beware: The higher you go in floors, the quieter you have to be!

Campus Recreation Center

Georgia Tech's rec center is rated the number one college recreation center in the nation! It is also where the 1996 Olympic games were held. The CRC is such an amazing place to take a chance to relieve your stress by running, swimming, taking a yoga class or just by playing a pick up game on the courts. Georgia Tech has provided its students with first class fitness machines to help every student get into and stay in shape. Also, to stay fit Georgia Tech has "get fit" classes which are offered at low prices to accomodate students with low budgets. After a long, hard workout session you can even stop by Freshens in the lobby and grab a smoothie or take a dip in the pool after riding down the water slide. Georgia Tech really knows how to get its students back in shape in a fun, friendly environment.

Great Facilities Overall...

Tech was ranked as #1 in the nation for sport facilities, so that should explain it. Student center and libraries, on the other hand, could use some renovation.

GT Campus

I love the Georgia Tech campus. I love being in downtown Atlanta, but being separated at the same time. Campus is a good size, not too small, and not too big. The campus facilities are top notch. The Campus Rec Center is fantastic; there's plenty of equipment and space to work out and exercise. The new CULC building provides students with plenty of studying space when combined with the library and other numerous study rooms around campus.

Favorite Things To Do

The music listening room has an extensive music collection that students can listen to if they just want to take a break. There are basketball courts on top of Peter and Curran parking decks that a lot of people use. Many students also take advantage of Tech Rec, which is the campus’s very own pool hall with pool tables, an eight lane bowling center, a video gaming area featuring Nintendo Wii and Playstation, and much more.

On any given day, you can work out in the Student Athletic Center or the Recreation Center, go bowling between classes, play some arcade games in the Student Center, or chill out and listen to some music. For those of you who like being outside, there are the outdoor basketball courts by the Curran and Peters parking decks. Students can also go to athletic events, and there are always events for organizations and such.
