College Prowler Take

The Student Center is the hub of student activity on campus. Located in the middle of campus, it houses a computer cluster, the music listening room, a food court, a ballroom and a theater. Many functions are held in the ballroom, and the theater regularly holds free screenings of popular movies, along with occasional concerts. The Student Center also houses Burdell’s, which is similar to a convenience store, and the campus post office. The CRC really is as great as it sounds. It has so many different activities and equipment available to students, ranging from a water slide to karate classes.

The library is also a very popular place on campus. It is a bit out-dated, but it is still incredibly useful. It has two computer clusters, one of which is very good for group work, a meeting room, and a space that students can reserve to practice multimedia presentations. Many students go to the library to study, as it has six floors full of tables and spaces to study, but it is also a very social place. Many come to study with their friends, but beware: The higher you go in floors, the quieter you have to be!

The Student Center is nice and always relaxing, and the CRC (Campus Recreation Center) and SAC Field are probably the nicest of its kind in the country.

The Student Athletic Center has an aerobics area with treadmills, elliptical machines, Stairmasters, bikes, and rowing machines. They all have the plug-ins for headphones with eight or ten different TVs and four radio stations you can tune to. There is a large weight area with free weights and Cybex machines, plus a separate, smaller women-only area for those women who don’t want to work out with the men. There is also a pool to swim laps. For an extra fee, they offer personal trainers, aerobics classes, water aerobics classes, and martial arts.

Every student gets his own PO box at the campus post office. There’s a bowling alley and arcade, a food court, and the bookstore is next door, along with a travel agency, an eye doctor, a place to get your hair cut, and a café. Tech also has a student ID program where, instead of carrying cash for everything, your Buzz Card doubles as a debit card that you can use around campus.

The SAC is pretty nice. They have a lot of workout equipment and exercise machines. We have basketball courts, pools, racquetball courts, and Astroturf fields for all kinds of stuff. They even have a little spot in the SAC where girls can work out if they don’t want to work out in the regular part. The Student Center is pretty cool. They have a music listening room, our post office, the food court, and a recreation room with pool tables, bowling lanes, and arcade games. There is also the third floor for special receptions and guest speakers.
