Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Georgia Tech has a good campus police force that patrols the campus extensively at night. Campus Police officers are just as competent as Atlanta City Police, and they have every intention of protecting the students. In addition to offering a good police force, Georgia Tech also offers a shuttle service that can take you to and from surrounding locations during the night hours. It is very convenient, and it can be reached 24 hours a day through an 800 number.

With all of that said, one must still remember that Atlanta has routinely ranked among the most dangerous cities in the country over the last 20 years. Students should avoid traveling alone on foot during the evening and early morning hours, no matter if they are on campus or in the middle of downtown. The reality of the big city will not forgive any naiveté on your part. Get informed about city life, and use common sense, travel with friends, and stay in crowded areas.

Don't Go Out at Night

It should go without saying, but sometimes stupid people go get themselves robbed at midnight. In a big city, one should never walk the night streets alone.

Safe? Sure

Campus is pretty safe. We always have Atlanta PD patrolling, and generally the only bad things that happen are off campus.

Campus Crime

Though there has been an increase in campus crime, I still feel safe at Georgia Tech. There is never a shortage of police officers and when I walk back to my dorm in the middle of the night the path is well lighted and always under surveillance.
