College Prowler Take
Housing off campus is reasonably convenient, and is necessary for many students who cannot get housing on campus after freshman year. The best deal is in Centennial Place Apartments, located between Luckie Street and Techwood Avenue, which is also called Centennial Olympic Park Drive. These apartments are a mere 5- to 10-minute walk from campus, making a car unnecessary for the everyday commute to class. For affordable rent at any development, roommates are necessary. If one is willing to endure a short drive to campus each day, a variety of choices for housing is available in the vicinity of Northside Drive or Howell Mill Road, just north of campus. For safety, it is usually advisable not to venture too far south of campus on Northside Drive for housing. If you must, stay in the midtown and downtown areas. Usually, rent and utilities for an apartment off campus are less expensive than the cost of a dorm room on campus. Apartments are also much larger and offer various other amenities that students might enjoy, such as laundry facilities, private workout equipment, hot tubs, and pools.

It's really convenient. Living in Home Park is a great option. I live there and walk to campus every day and catch a bus so I don't have to worry about paying for parking. It's also a great atmosphere with lots of college students. There are always lots of parties.

Apartments off campus are usually...
Apartments off campus are usually really expensive because of the location of Georgia Tech in the heart of Midtown. You can find cheaper places to live, but they usually aren't in the nicest sections of town or are really far away from campus. If you can find a happy medium between price, distance from campus, and safety, then it's totally worth it to live off campus.

There are many convenient off-campus housing, and it is totally worth it if you have dependable and trustworthy roommates. The rates are reasonable and a steal if you have multiple people to a single room. Apartments are easy to find, even within walking distance, and most apartment complexes will have other college-aged tenants.

I don't know any freshman who live off campus. Coming to Tech is such an adjustment, living off-campus isn't something you should do until you're sure you can handle Tech life. A lot of upperclassmen live off campus, but there are so many apartment options available through Tech, some people don't think it's worth living off campus. Of course, being in a city like Atlanta, apartments are everywhere and you would have no trouble finding one.

Off-campus apartments at Georgia...
Off-campus apartments at Georgia Tech are either far away or considered to be less secure. Safety was an issue for me, but as apartments are a lot cheaper, I decided to keep looking into it. I eventually decided to live in a sorority house. It is safe and cheap!
