Tech's ratio really sucks. A lot of people defend the numbers with the argument that there is an equal amount of socially minded girls and guys, but the truth is Tech does very poorly when it comes to the girls category. Although there is still more action to be had at Tech than there was in high school, the action is not as pretty. You'll get Tech goggles and get with some pretty questionable girls, which is fine--we all do it, just don't expect your non-Tech friends to be as accepting of her appearance as your classmates here are.

Georgia Tech is all the sweat of a top 20 school with half the glory. Required science classes can get hard, as can Tech's combined Calc/Lin Alg classes. English and any entry social science is a joke at Tech, and easy to make a B in if one elects not to show. Don't aim too high, incomers.

It's really convenient. Living in Home Park is a great option. I live there and walk to campus every day and catch a bus so I don't have to worry about paying for parking. It's also a great atmosphere with lots of college students. There are always lots of parties.

Its okay. The food can get tiring after awhile, and sometimes the dining hall tries to cater too much to different ethnicities. They repeat meals every couple of weeks, but they do have a cereal, pasta, and salad bar that helps when you don't love the main course.

It is pretty diverse and ok quality. They are getting better at offering more choices such as vegetarian/vegan. The problem is that all the places close really early so you have limited choices at certain times. Also, some of the food can be kind of expensive.

Apartments off campus are usually really expensive because of the location of Georgia Tech in the heart of Midtown. You can find cheaper places to live, but they usually aren't in the nicest sections of town or are really far away from campus. If you can find a happy medium between price, distance from campus, and safety, then it's totally worth it to live off campus.

The food is not that great, honestly. The two dining halls on campus provide pretty limited options, and the choices get old very quickly. The student center has a food court and a few other restaurants that add some variety, but you can't use those with your freshman meal plan. Einstein's has pretty good sandwiches, including breakfast bagels all day. Junior's is definitely the place to go if you're hungry. The burger basket is the best deal on campus.

There are many convenient off-campus housing, and it is totally worth it if you have dependable and trustworthy roommates. The rates are reasonable and a steal if you have multiple people to a single room. Apartments are easy to find, even within walking distance, and most apartment complexes will have other college-aged tenants.

I've been pretty satisfied overall with the food on campus. The dining hall has a ton of variety, but students do tend to get tired of it after a few months. There are kitchens in all of the dorms, so you can cook with a few friends every once in a while, too.

I don't know any freshman who live off campus. Coming to Tech is such an adjustment, living off-campus isn't something you should do until you're sure you can handle Tech life. A lot of upperclassmen live off campus, but there are so many apartment options available through Tech, some people don't think it's worth living off campus. Of course, being in a city like Atlanta, apartments are everywhere and you would have no trouble finding one.

Off-campus apartments at Georgia Tech are either far away or considered to be less secure. Safety was an issue for me, but as apartments are a lot cheaper, I decided to keep looking into it. I eventually decided to live in a sorority house. It is safe and cheap!

I had a food plan for freshman year, and it was nice to drop by between classes. Of course, it gets old after a while, but it's just too expensive to go off campus to eat all the time. Lots of places, especially in Midtown, accept our campus ID Cards (Buzz Cards) for money, and that helps to cut the burden of always eating out. The dining halls pleasantly surprise you sometimes, and other times it's hard to find something to satisfy your taste.

It's easy to find off-campus housing after freshman year at Georgia Tech. There are a lot of homes for rent in Home Park right beside campus, as well as apartments everywhere in downtown Atlanta. They are a little pricey, but nothing absurd, you can usually find any price range.

Living off campus as a freshman may not be a great idea. At Tech, the easiest way to meet people is by living in freshman dorms. There are a lot of freshman activities and opportunities best found by living in a dorm. Also, it is difficult to live off campus because Atlanta can be overwhelming as a freshman, and it is easier to get acclimated to Tech through freshman housing.

Good spots on campus include the student center food court because there is a Chick-Fil-A, a really good salad bar, and a sushi place. There is also an Einstein's, a Pizza Hut, and a Pandini's in the student center, all of which are very good. The dining halls are decent during the week but usually don't have any good food on the weekends. They also get boring after a while. Go to Tech Square if you want good, real food.

Woodruff Dining Hall is better than Brittain Dining Hall. It has more options and is more up to date, but I still like Brittain, and most of it is the same food. There are a lot of places on campus that take Buzzcard that are really good. The student center has a lot of good food, especially if you're eating between classes and don't feel like going all the way to your dorm or dining hall.

I have to admit that the campus is in a major city, and certain things come with that, if you’ve never experienced a similar lifestyle. The campus really is safe, though. You see a campus cop drive by every two to ten minutes. Outside of the campus, the safety isn’t as tight, but I wouldn’t be alarmed. Honest.

Security has not really been a problem for me. I never walk around campus at night by myself because it is right in downtown Atlanta, which isn’t always very safe. There are a lot of campus police, and you can also call a shuttle at Tech for free if you need a ride somewhere on or right around campus.

Security and safety on campus is not an issue, as long as you are smart. Keep in mind, you will be living in downtown Atlanta, so there will be some weird people lurking around at night. Don’t walk by yourself when it gets dark. There are several different options if you must get home late at night, including campus police escorts and a special night bus that will take you door to door.

On-campus safety and security are pretty good. Off campus at night can be a little scary if you are walking alone, because you are in the middle of midtown Atlanta. The closer to the middle of campus you are, the better the security is. I lived in Smith, which is in the very corner of campus, and there are a lot of bums and people walking around on North Avenue. Two of my friends got mugged in front of our dorm when they were coming back one night.
