Unique, Unique, Unique
At GT you'll have a unique experience no matter what. The level of education is top-tier, and they make sure to remind you with grueling courses that keep you pretty busy depending on your major. The social life is pretty funny, but something you'll get used to. There's basically three categories: you can chill out in the dorms, have a few drinks with some close friends (if your RA is chill, that's a big IF sometimes). Then you can go to parties in fraternities (don't get too bummed when people are lame about you drinking, and then hand your female friend a free cup of hunch punch) or off campus in Home Park (where all wildness is available, and the parties don't stop till 4:20 in the mornin'). Finally, you're living in Atlanta! Wake up and get away from the same ol' same ol'! Go check out some local music at The 5 Spot or The Earl, or just go urban exploring with some friends to the different parts of the city. It's a big city with lots to see, so don't get stuck in the mentality that you've seen it all, when you're still sitting on your dorm room couch watching NetFlix.
Some cool things about Georgia Tech academically is the openness about research and study abroad. I did both, and they are really encouraging students to do so, and they really offer opportunities to research in really interesting areas and study ALL across the world. You can check out all the options from the OIE website within the gatech.edu site to see just where you can go. Studying abroad is great for out-of-state students as you get to pay in state tuition which is about 1/4 of the price, so go for it, and have a time you'll never forget.
I guess I do have to mention the people at Tech can be entertainment in themselves. You'll see and overhear some hilarious things whether it's about WOW strategies or nuclear physics, and if you remember how you'll never get to hear that again, soak it all in and remember there's real girls on the outside (haha, just kidding).
