College Prowler Take
MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transit Authority) is available from campus via multiple bus routes that incorporate campus streets, and rapid rail lines are reasonably accessible from campus. Bus routes from campus transport students to the Midtown (10th Street) and North Avenue rail stops, from which students can travel to Hartsfield International Airport, Lenox Mall, and an array of other locations. A rail map and schedule of bus routes is available at www.itsmarta.com. Most students, though, don’t like to use the public transportation. Driving and bumming rides from friends are generally the preferred method of getting around, if you can manage it. But, if you need to use public transportation, it is there.

The Stinger can get you around campus. The Stingerette can get you off campus to a fairly close location. Otherwise, think MARTA. |

I enjoy using MARTA because it’s easy, and it gets me to the mall and the airport. Those are the only places I use it for, though. |

If you live on East Campus, the MARTA station is a block away. If you live on West Campus, there’s a campus bus that will take you to the nearest MARTA subway station. MARTA will take you almost anywhere downtown and a few places out of town, including straight into the Atlanta airport. It’s really, really clean and safe. I’ve ridden by myself to the Atlanta airport very early in the morning and felt perfectly safe. |

MARTA is nice because it goes straight into the airport. I have a car, so going to the airport is one of the only times I use it. The problem with MARTA is that it basically has a north/south line and an east/west line; that’s about it. Of course, it has buses that take you to more places, but many places in town seem like you have to take both the subway and a bus to get there, not just get off the subway and be there. |

MARTA is pretty good and cheap. It takes you near lots of places but not directly to them. Taxis are not like New York. In fact, you won’t really see them unless you’re in Buckhead. Mainly, the upperclassmen have cars, and they’d be willing to take you places. |
