The nightlife around campus and Atlanta is definitely geared toward the 21-and-up crowd. There are a ton of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs around the city, though most are spread out or localized by district. Wherever you go, you'll probably need some form of transportation other than your feet. Affordability depends heavily on what part of the city you're in, too; Buckhead is more of a lavish business district, so the prices there will be higher, while Downtown and Midtown have a heavier youth population and thus, more interesting options for students. Not all of these venues are 21-and-over, though. If you're not legal yet, most places will let you in with a higher cover charge or just keep you away from the bar. There are also plenty of fun restaurants, concert venues, and dance clubs that are 18-and-over in addition to the hundreds of other entertainment venues (comedy clubs, for instance) that don't care how old you are.
House parties and the like aren't very common, with the exception of those that happen on Greek Row (which is further up Interstate 85 and farther from campus), which is mostly made up of students from within the same social groups. There are some parties in the dorms for the younger crowd, and there are also a few at the other colleges close to State.
