Plain and simple, Gettysburg College is not diverse. This is not, in any way, due to a intolerant campus or off-campus environment, but rather passive inhibitors, such as price and location. However, the all-white atmosphere is steadily changing, however. The school is making an active effort to introduce greater diversity on campus, with respect to both minority students from the U.S. and abroad.
As it is, Gettysburg is currently recognized in several publications for its student homogeneity. The "whiteness" of the school is especially telling during events such as commencement, where the fact that everyone looks the same isn't just an issue of perception.
