College Prowler Take
The typical guy on campus wears fashionable, name brand clothing, is friendly, vaguely attractive, and hangs out at the Greek houses on weekends. The typical girl is much the same. Since it is a liberal arts school, there are relatively few nerdy types on campus, generally restricted only to closet Star Wars fans and the odd live-action role player in the English department. While you will find a diverse assortment of guys and girls, as far as hair color or height goes, that’s about where it ends. Most people tend to have the same economic and political status—the variance within these categories being quite small. There are very few extremist viewpoints on either side of the political spectrum and, for the most part, both the guys and girls at Gettysburg come fairly close to being, get this, “normal.”

A typical student has dyed blonde...
A typical student has dyed blonde hair, goes tanning weekly, and wears black spandex with a hoodie and Uggs during the winter. That's the typical student, but we can be way cooler than that.

Gettysburg guys and girls tend to...
Gettysburg guys and girls tend to be rich and preppy. There are plenty of nice, mellow people, but enough rich bitches to notice. Very well dressed as a group.

There's only one word to describe...
There's only one word to describe kids here: rich. Not coming from that background, I was amazed at how these people throw money around like it's nothing. The typical G-burg girl wears dresses in spring/autumn and skinny jeans tucked into boots in the winter. Boys sport kakhis, button up shirts and a backward baseball hat. There are more "normal" looking kids here, but they are definitely the minority.

The average student at Gettysburg wears preppy clothing, has a friendly smile, and is pretty attractive. There is a large population of "lax-bros" and fashionable sorority girls.

This school has the hottest girls...
This school has the hottest girls around! They're beautiful, well-dressed, outgoing, fun, and probably in a sorority. The men here also know a thing or two about presenting themselves. This school certainly does not suffer from lack of attractive people!

FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Condoms are freely available at the health center. Testing and other contraceptive measures are also offered.
Social Scene
Unlike larger schools where economic diversity tends to encourage a broader range of personalities and niches, the traditional frat boy and sorority girl stereotypes seem to dominate on campus.
Hookups or Relationships?
Hookups! While some of the students at Gettysburg do meet that special someone and settle down, the majority of students feel that these four years are a time for fun and experimentation. They prefer to play the field and sample the student body by casual dating and weekend hookups.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Most students will tell you that social functions such as fraternity or off-campus parties are generally the best place to meet guys or girls, but there really is no bad place at Gettysburg. Parties offer the best chance to meet someone due to the sheer enormity of sample size, but finding someone in classes and clubs probably will result in a more meaningful relationship on campus.
Dress Code
Pink polo shirts (collar popped) compete with denim skirts to win the title of "Most Common Pieces of Clothing" at Gettysburg College. While it is unclear whether the sporting of flip-flops in February should be considered an example of admirable or foolhardy devotion to the sacrament of fashion, students nonetheless wear them out in full force. While Gettysburg students may display some individual style tendencies, particularly during their freshman year, they will soon begin to conform to the Gettysburg . The transition typically begins from the ground up, with flip flops replacing sneakers or shoes in all but the most dire of weather, and then moving steadily upwards, culminating on top of the head with hair ribbons for girls and sunglasses carefully perched atop the forehead for guys.
