College Prowler Take

Few classes of the American social hierarchy are more sensitive to parking issues than college students. A few students express legitimate concerns from time to time at Gettysburg, but for the most part students are satisfied. There is ample parking space all over campus, and registration is free. However, first-years are no longer allowed to have cars on campus. Lots are generally well-lit, and theft and vandalism is minimal to bordering on non-existent.

Lots start to fill up during the more popular sports events, and campus-wide occasions, such as Commencement and moving-in days, peaking at events like Homecoming and Get Acquainted Day, when hundreds—sometimes thousands—of visitors descend upon the school. Still, there is almost always an open spot somewhere on campus, and, most of the time, it is not too far away from where you need to be.

I've never had a problem finding parking on campus. There are quite a few parking lots, although some are more of a walk than others. Freshmen are no longer allowed to bring cars to Gettysburg.

There is plenty of parking because freshmen can't have cars, except for certain exceptions (golf, equestrian team, education minors, etc.). There is a poorly run shuttle service to go to Wal-Mart and Giant. Thankfully, there is a small grocery store in walking distance.

Freshman cannot bring cars, which was a bit of a frustration for many, but you can usually find an upperclassman willing to drive you. The parking for upperclassman is nice and close to campus.
