Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Rare is the Gonzaga student who hasn’t poked fun at the COG’s suspect dishes, effects on digestion, or unhealthy properties. But most admit that it has a significant array of food that is edible. Everyone will go through stages of profound gastronomic angst where nothing seems desirable. All this aside, students can get decent food there. Weekend brunches are popular, as are theme nights. Bulldog Bucks (money put on your student ID, usable at all on-campus locations) is convenient. Nearly everyone likes the myriad coffee stands that dot the Gonzaga landscape.

So why does the average Gonzaga student violently curse Sodexho? It has less to do with mediocre food than the malicious practices it serves. It seems that new policies are designed to enrage as many as possible. Unused meal punches no longer carry over to another semester. They are converted to flex money (only 30 percent of what you paid). The meal “blocks,” or dining hours, limit flexibility and coerce students into buying the biggest meal plan. The latest atrocity is the near abolishment of late-night dining. The COG used to be open until 11 p.m. on weeknights; it now closes at 9 p.m. Factor in the cost of a meal plan (8 to 12 dollars per meal), which resident students are required to buy—and you have the recipe for an infuriated student.

Great Meal Plan Offers

Overall, the cafe food is good. There is a lot of the same food but I think the food there is a lot better than the food at other college cafes. There are lot of options around campus. There is also a coffee shop in almost all the buildings which is nice. I would suggest getting the meal plan that offers the least amount of cafe swipes and the most amount of college dinning dollars, because there a lot of nice places to eat on campus that takes dinning dollars.
