Security is only strict about three things: drugs, underage drinking, and illegal parking. If you are caught using or possessing drugs, security will call the police to deal with the situation and will refer you to the Judicial Board for further disciplinary action. Multiple drug violations could lead to expulsion from campus. Underage students cannot possess, drink, or even be in the same room as an open container of alcohol. Certain security officers call the police for underage drinking, but the majority of officers just deal with it themselves. Security will usually let a first-time offender off with a warning. As a repeat offender, you may have to serve community service and/or attend an alcohol-counseling program. That being said, security only busts students who aren’t smart about hiding it. If you are quietly drinking in your room, you won’t have a problem. Students usually get busted when they are being too loud or when parties spill into the hallway.

Although it can be annoying at times, security is there to protect the campus and does a good job of that. Students can call security if they need help curbing unwanted behavior from other students, such as busting up a noisy party down the hall, stopping residents from smoking in the stairwell, or blocking obscene phone calls. Security can be quite useful.

They pretty much let you do your thing as long as you're not disturbing anyone. Since most parties happen in people's rooms, someone has to call security before they'll bust up a party. The best thing you can do is be polite, let your neighbors know if you're having a party, and ask them to tell you to turn it down before going to security. Everyone complies, and people are friendly about it. When there is a drug violation, they can be strict, but I think it's assumed that if you get caught, you probably did something dumb.

It totally depends on where you live. In Stimson, you can do a lot of things without security caring. In the nicer buildings, security is more strict. If you get caught, you have to meet with Community Living, and they decide what you have to do. The punishment normally depends on how many times you have been caught. Be discrete and you will probably be fine.

For the most part, campus police are very relaxed about drinking on campus. As long as you aren't really obvious about it, you're fine.

Policies are moderate on drinking,...

Policies are moderate on drinking, although how lax or severely they are enforced depends a great deal on the individual security guards. Drug policies seem to be harsh, although only moderately enforced. Since Goucher isn't really a party school, I don't think policies need to be enforced that strictly unless specific problems arise.

As long as you are fairly discreet, you can do what you want. Excessive noise, large groups of people, and tons of empty alcohol containers left outside will certainly attract security. You have to be a serious repeat offender to suffer any major consequences, like loss of on-campus housing.
