Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

With the library open 24 hours and a ton of computers scattered throughout, it’s usually not hard to find an open computer. While there are a few specific labs within the library, most students use the freestanding computers. It can become very difficult to find a computer during midterms and finals, so students will often bring their own laptops or stake out a computer early. Students get 600 free pages of printing a semester, so the library is often used for quick print jobs by students who have computers in their room but don’t feel like wasting their printing ink.

Most students bring a computer to school so they don’t have to deal with the hassle of walking across campus in search of an open computer. It is also more convenient to have one in your room because e-mail is the official mode of communication on campus. Goucher’s wireless network is easily accessible in all academic buildings, the library, dining halls, common areas of all dorms, Heubeck hall, New residence hall ("The T"), the SrC, performance spaces, the Gopher Hole, and the residential quad. The network is reliable, and it is expanding by the year.

Good Network and 24 Hour Computer Lab

The wifi at Goucher College is free, and relatively fast. Most students have their own laptops, but there is a 24-hour computer lab in the library that is a wonderful resource. As a student you receive 500 "printer point", which is a decent amount depending on your course load.

Good Computer Lab, Lots of Printers, Wireless...Eh

The Info Commons has a ton of computers, both windows and macs, and every floor has plenty of computers to use on it. There are also several printers, copiers, scanners, etc. to use around campus. Also, the school is definitely equipped with WiFi, but its strength varies, and it's not always dependable. It's definitely possibly to go to school here and get by fine without owning a laptop - but most people do.
