A
Towson Is Not Too Exciting but Baltimore Is Just Around the Corner
Towson is a nice, safe area, teeming with college students from both Goucher and Towson University. There are a few good places to eat around campus, like Towson Hot Bagels and Kathmandu Kitchen. You can also find pretty much everything you may need in Towson, without walking for more than 15 or 20 minutes. There are tons of convenient stores (and a huge mall if you are into that kind of shopping). Also on Thursdays there is a nice farmers market. For those into quirky finds there is a cute vintage/consignment store close to campus. Towson may be a little sleepy but it is a convenient place for a college student to live. But even more importantly, Towson is incredibly close to Baltimore (15 minutes or so). There are multiple cost efficient ways to get into the city without taking a car. Baltimore itself is a fantastic city to have nearby. There are lots of funky restaurants and cafes, dance and music clubs, and opportunities for community service and internships. The inner Harbor is a popular area for students to visit, but there are many other lesser-known areas and places to explore. It's true that Baltimore is not the safest city, so its important to be aware and consider traveling with a friend if not familiar with the area. Otherwise, as long as you are smart about where you go, Baltimore is a fantastic place to be around. The city also is home to students from more than three other colleges and Universities.
