Since the nearest nightclubs are up to an hour away in the cities of Shreveport and Monroe, most GSU students go to parties instead. The Greek organizations host bashes and the international students from the Caribbean throw Caribbean parties, which are always well attended. There is a small entrance fee of $5 or less to enter these parties.
However, all this partying does bring some unwanted attention. For example, the local police department quickly responds to complaints about off-campus parties being too loud and reports of underage drinking, and they will come and stop the parties. So, if you are having a party, make sure to keep the noise to a bearable level. The students at GSU love to party, especially on weekends, so you should never have to worry about being bored at night here. There’s always a good time to be found around every corner, but just remember to use common sense and don’t drink so much that you cause a scene or get arrested.
