Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

There are very few students who do not adore Grand Valley. Many appreciate the setting and close proximity to a big city. The diversity and range of activities and organizations on campus ensures that everyone finds their niche, although for some students it takes a year, while others put in little effort and find their place right away. This is similar to the academic experience of many students: some find passing classes to be no problem, while others have to study often. The professors and staff are excellent at helping students who need additional academic assistance and seek it out. Everyone is different at Grand Valley, a fact that is embraced and understood by all students and faculty.

In general, students agree that Grand Valley is an experience they would never trade. Organizations offer a social life, networking opportunities, and depending on the organization, academic help. It is important that students take an occasional break from the stress that inevitably comes with homework and deadlines. Club meetings, eating out, and seeing a movie with friends are great ways to take a short break from school. It is also important to have a regular sleep schedule and diet. Spending time outside, especially in Grand Valley's rural setting, can help calm the mind and give a student some breathing room.

Beware of Nursing, Be Ready to Fight

Nursing is one of the most competitive fields at GVSU. Getting into the program is difficult. However, it is a great program, one of the best in the area. Acceptance is hard though and the curriculum in pretty inflexible.

Grand Valley has a great technology set-up. There are labs in nearly every important building equipped with computers that are fairly new.

Pretty Good Overall

The campus isn't that old so no dorms are absolutely terrible. The honors dorms are the best, as is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! If you are in the Honor's College you need to be in these dorms! The other ones are alright though too.
