Gay Pride
Homosexuality is widely accepted among all students, professors, faculty, and staff. Out 'N' About (ONA) is a student organization dedicated to supporting the LGBT community. ONA hosts the "Day of Silence," as well as an annual Pride Prom. The University also has the Allies & Advocates program, the LGBT Resource Center in Kirkhof, and the Diversity Directory that can be found online.
Political Activity
There are campus organizations for both Democrat and Republican students, but the students and professors who are the most vocal about their opinions generally have liberal viewpoints.
Economic Status
GVSU students come from many different backgrounds. Some are from inner-city Detroit, while others went to suburban private high schools. Students who are paying their way through school often have jobs.
Most Common Religions
There are a handful of Christian organizations and a few groups for other religions, such as Hillel. Most students will talk about their beliefs, but they are not outwardly vocal about religion.
Minority Clubs on Campus
There are more than 20 cultural student organizations on campus.
