Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The public bus system allows students the mobility around campus and downtown without the heavy price tag of gas prices. The Rapid bus system has two routes around campus: the 48 (South Campus) and the 37 (North Campus), with buses running every five minutes. Grand Valley also has the 50 bus route which travels from Allendale to Grand Rapids with intermediate stops along the way. This bus runs every five minutes and is about a 25-minute drive. GV students ride the Rapid bus system (any route) for free with ID.

In addition to the public transportation, GV provides students with a University bus system. In recent years, the bus system has grown, going from one route connecting two campuses to five routes. If students wish to do some long-distance traveling, there is a nearby bus and Amtrak train station in Grand Rapids, which students can utilize to take weekend trips or travel home for the holidays.

Transportation

Grand Valley has a great transportation system. The buses are free and they take you anywhere you need to go. They also run until midnight on the weekdays and until two on the weekends.

Buses Are OK

During the day, there are plenty of buses always going through the campus and to the downtown campus. The buses are always jam packed though so make sure you get in front of the line or wait for the next bus. The only thing that is bad is if you’re going downtown at night. The bus comes every hour or so and if you miss that bus then you’re waiting there for quite some time.
