Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

While some students who are not used to the wonderful weather changes in Michigan complain, most students at Grand Valley get along just fine. Walking on campus takes 10 minutes from one end to the other, so no matter how cold or rainy it is, you are not outside for long. Also, because buses run so frequently, some students will take the bus from one end of campus to the other—this is not frowned upon!

With the weather varying from one day to another, it is also nice to have multiple plans for your day. If it's raining, instead of going to the nearby beach, head downtown for some indoor shopping or events! In the winter, the snow is beautiful, and after the first spring rain, it is relatively dry on campus.

It's Allendale...Be Prepared

This year wasn't too bad, but snow on campus is terrible. Walking to class may not seem too bad any other time, but heavy winter snows make it unbearable. The buildings are placed in a way that creates wind tunnels which makes things worse...

Not So Seasonable

Grand Valley dorms do not have air conditioning because it is cold for the majority of the school year. Needless to say it is burning hot for the first two months and than the other seven months or so there are feet of snow. Because the weather is so cold it is even more incentive for all the students to stay in and make the campus look dead often which is fairly sad.

Its michigan people, and the west coast. You better love the snow. The summers are hot, and the winters are cold. The good thing is, is that campus is only a few minutes from lake michigan, so on nice days, its a short trip!
