There is always parties going on a drunk people around campus.

If its cold and raining its not very fun to walk 10 minutes to class and have to wait at the stop lights to cross the streets. When its colder outside the heaters tend to work less and the rooms are cold.

I would not chose this school because they lied when I came. They said it was safe it was not. Within the first month of being at the school and living on campus I got hit in the face by a man. There was no campus security around. None of them were helpfully. I can not sleep because of all the yelling at all hours and fighting. No one comes to fix that. We went month without heat and a month with no air.

Health & Safety:
Campus security is horrible. They are never around.
College Freshman 2013-11-05T18:15:31Z
They have horrible food. That is unhealthy.
College Freshman 2013-11-05T18:13:50Z
There safety on campus is not very good!
College Freshman 2013-11-05T18:12:40Z
They have public transport but it is always very difficult to use.
College Freshman 2013-11-05T18:11:09Z
They have a good programs but I don't think they explain what is going on very well.
College Freshman 2013-11-05T18:11:09Z
The registration process would not the best. Everything else is fine.
College Freshman 2013-11-05T18:09:57Z
There is diversity on campus I do believe however that some people are not excepted for being different.

Grand View has a great atmosphere! All of the students and teachers are so welcoming. Lot of events go on during the day for different reasons (cultural event, volunteering, signing up to win random prized) and homecoming week is always lots of fun.

I am in the nursing program, and they are very strict about being to class on time and showing up to clinical. If you miss class or clinical (unexcused) your grade can drop a whole letter grade.

Not a whole lot goes on at night. I only lived on campus my freshman year, but nothing really went on besides sporting events. Some people partied, I choose not too. Even the people who went to parties stated that we are not really known to be "partying school".

If you're going to live off-campus, there aren't too many choices for apartments around the area. You can rent a house if you can find one, or you can usually find an apartment as close as 10-20 minutes away, but for the most part, you'll definitely need to drive to class if you live off-campus. A huge problem with driving to class is the amount of parking available. There's not enough parking spots for all of the commuter students that the school has.

Just getting ready to start at the school, but so far they have been very helpful getting started and guiding me through the process.

I would probably do this program again. Some of the professors are dull and only read off the power point. I understand that teachers are not here to entertain students however, they should at least try to be excited about what they are teaching. Other professors are extremely difficult though I learn a lot it makes my GPA take a hit.
Grand View University has a good history of having their graduates get a job relatively soon after graduating in addition the market for my major is large and always in demand. Therefore I am not worried about finding a job in my field.

They have four places on campus. One is a starbucks coffee shop. one is a pizza and pasta place, which is probably the best out of all of them. They custom make your food when you order! Then the other two are so so. I enjoy the sub place but some individuals dislike it. Lastly, the general food location where there is actual seating is in a dorm building and always smells odd.

I know we rank well in a lot of sports including football, baseball, softball, and especially wrestling! Grand View also hosts tailgate parties and updates the student body on scores and rank throughout the season

I know they have a few campus houses but other than that the university is surrounded by occupied neighborhoods.

Des Moines itself has a lot of restaurants, but near GV the dining isn't as great. If you enjoy fast food and taco trucks, you're set! Go to Ankeny or West Des Moines to eat!

I Am not sure what I would like to do yet. I just know I want to help people.

I transfered from Iowa State University to Grand View University and I have never been happier with the education I am receiving. The professors are always willing to help you with anything you may need, yet push you to find the solution to your problems yourself. The Biology program is very prestigious due to the lab classes and the low professor to student ratio. I have no concern about proceeding onto med school due to the strong ties that GVU has with Des Moines University. A professor from DMU teaches a class at our university in the cadaver lab! This program was absolutely worth the transfer.

Guys & Girls:
There are all sorts of people at Grand View. I am not one to see the looks or dress of others. The social life seemed very out going and I made friends with people. They were all very kind and social.

As for my professors they have all been amazing and are great teachers. The workload was never too much or too little. There are many study areas, quiet, out in the open, outside, almost anywhere you go in the school their is seating to study and hook up your laptop. Registration process probably took the longest, but it wasn't longer then I would have expected when starting a private college.

I double major in Psychology and Human Services with a minor in Art Therapy. My workload is normal for any college. I don't feel that I am overwhelmed.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
