A Lot to Offer

GBC has a lot to offer it's students. There are a lot of different course options and areas of study to choose from. The professors are usually very nice and helpful. Workloads are usually never too much to handle. Most professors are very understanding also. Class registration is very easy; you can do it yourself online or see a counselor for help.

Communication

Communication is a major part in online courses. Emails generally take longer to get answers to questions than phone calls, but it's better than nothing. Online courses require a lot of time and effort. You also have to be able to teach yourself and grasp concepts on your own. You don't have a teacher there cramming information into your head. As a student you actually have to take the initiative to cram all of the information into your head yourself. I also felt that it was a lot faster paced than most classes. You also need to buckle down and take the course work seriously. You don't have someone standing over your shoulder the whole time telling you what you need to be doing. You have to take initiative and manage your time wisely. Waiting until last minute is the worst thing you can do.

There's Variety!

GBC offers many different courses and areas of interest. Most teachers genuinely care about their students. Since attending GBC I have only had one real issue with a teacher. Course work is given out and usually thoroughly discussed before you are expected to complete it and turn it back in. A lot of the faculty will help with you and work with you any way that they can. They are very understaning and nice people. A lot of the courses that I have taken have a had a group feel to them. Especially my english courses with Professor Laxalt. She goes above and beyond to ensure that her students are grasping the material and enjoying themselves while in the classroom. She has definitely made an impact on me!
