I have found the school to be very flexible. I have taken night and daytime classes as well as two Saturday courses. Currently I am taking three online and one on campus course (knowing NH weather I did not want to drive in every day).

There is a computer lab in the library and in CAPS. I use the wireless when I am on campus and have never had a connectivity issue.

We don't currently have a gym although there is talk of adding one. With one the school would get an A+. I love the library atmosphere. Food, drink and conversation are encouraged rather than prohibited and I found it a great place for group study.

Other than the admissions representatives (who I personally found rude and disrespectful) every staff member is warm and courteous. For one assignment we had to walk the halls and ask questions. I found that even the security staff are more than willing to help students.

Right now I am a liberal arts student. I like how I have to the general classes but people in every program have to take them. I wish that I was able to take more than 3 free elective classes. I am doing liberal arts to learn about myself and see what I want to do and 3 classes just isn't enough for someone as indecisive as myself!

There is a ton of extra tutor help whenever you need it. It can definitely come in handy. Also, the class registration process is super easy because you do it right online with no hassel! The workload is perfect. So far it hasn't been too much yet not too little either. Definitely managable with a busy schedule.

You think- "oh community college, it is going to be a breeze." Great Bay has some challenging courses! You will leave a course feeling like you learned something, not just "slid by". Even the courses that are on the easy side have given me much to think about. Great Bay hires professors that have taught at our state university, and ones that have taught elsewhere. I am happily surprised at the level of competence and educational support that I have found at Great Bay.

I have always felt that the college staff wants me to succeed. It is a defining quality of Great Bay, I feel welcomed and valued there.

As this is a community college there is not a large community of athletics on campus. However the activities dept. does a great job of bringing students together by offering fun things to do in the lobby and free off campus activities for students.

Free tutoring services are available every day. If you need to schedule an appt with an advisor you can always go to the advising center and log onto one of their computers and make your appt. The library offers free printing services, you can print out your paper that is due on your way to class. There is also online chat help for most departments. Especially helpful is the online chat help with the online research database that the library offers.

Great Bay just implimented an alumni association this past year, so that will take a while to get off the ground. Our career center is pretty general, but since the school has such good relationships with the community, finding a job is relatively easy. Though most students don't go straight into the working force after graduating from here; students usually transfer to a four-year school to continue their education.

The professors here are great, and it's awesome that we have such small class sizes because you are able to get one-on-one attention with your instructors, and build relationships with peers.

I get the same education as four-year college students, but I'm paying a quarter of the costs. As a Business major, I'm really able to get insider information on jobs in the outer community, because we have such good relationships with them.

The small size and sense of community provided by the campus really pushes you to succeed and reach beyond your boundaries.

The online courses can be difficult especially in the beginning. The best approach is to keep an open line of communication with the professor to gauge what is expected.

I am not in my desired program yet but there is always someone around ready to answer any questions I may have

Great Bay Community College has recently moved from Stratham to Portsmouth on the Pease Airforce Base. This move is there saving grace. THe last school reminded me of a nursing home. Every water fountain was broken and the classrooms were small with too many students per class. The new school has a great cafe called the green bean that has good food and relaxing music. The student life room features xbox, wii, playstation, and an air hockey unit. The library is twice the size of the last one. The only downfall of the library is the limited resources. Also CAPS is a great place to go for help with homework and also has a computer lab and quiet study rooms. Overall I give the newly renovated Great Bay a B+!

Network and Reliability of Internet Are Great Bug Printing Quota Is Restrictive. I can always count on the computers to work in the computer lab. I never worry about Internet access either. During busy times of the semester like midterms and finals I might have a problem finding an open computer to use. The biggest problem is the 10 page printing maximum. It's simply not enough when your a student who lives on her own without a printer available.

Classes Are Great! So far the classes I have taken taught me a lot. I started my first semester in the summer so the workload was daunting at times but I'm hoping it's the same or less than summer classes in the Fall. However, I do understand college isn't always going to be an easy workload anyways so I'm prepared for that. I love all the courses offered at this school.

So far the two classes that I have taken here have gone smoothly. The professor for one of the classes is very involved with the students and I appreciated all the time my teacher put into helping me succeed! I think the professor you get is vital to your success. I understand that some won't be as good with the "relationship building" as others but I do hope that most of the courses I take here will have professors that truly enjoy teaching and take the time to help students succeed.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
So Far, So Good! I received the maximum amount of aide that I could get! The remaining amount I have to pay is definitely worth the education and environment of the school. The process went very smoothly and the financial aide office worked very patiently with me. I'm glad I chose this school for my education.
