My experience at Green River has been very convenient. It is only nine miles away from my home and the drive takes a short amount of time. The classes they provide for me to achieve my transfer degree are at all times of the day making it easy to plan a schedule with work. Green River also has an easy credit transfer to Central Washington University (the college i plan to attend). All of the credits i have taken are transferable making things a little less stress free for my future.

The unique things about Green River that really sets it apart from other schools are; the scenery, parking services and security transportation.
Green River is surrounded by a lot of natural vegetation, even though it is becoming more modernized, a lot of the nature feeling remains on campus making it a beautiful campus in my opinion. The parking services provided at Green River is also different from any other institution. Parking on the Green River campus can be a challenging task for some people being that at times all the spaces are filled. Although Green River has came up with a solution for this. Students park at the Race Ways not far from campus and they provide bus routes to transport students to campus. These route run all day long and often times they provide food and beverages to the students aboard the buses. Green River also has a security transportation, a program for students who leave near campus and need rides to the market. Green River allows these students in need to sign-up for a specific time to be picked up and be transported to their desired location and returned free of charge.

I am not personally aware of any post-grad services that Green River Community College offers.
College Senior 2013-10-12T18:46:09Z
Green River Community College provides great network connection on campus. I am able to access wifi anywhere on campus with all my technological devices. The network has always been reliable and had great speed whenever i needed it, which makes me happy as a student.
Printing on campus is also excellent they do not have any major charges for printing or scanning. Green River gives each student 1,000 points per quarter, each paper you print is one point and subtracted every time you print a page. I love this technique because i have not come close to expiring my 1,000 points in a given quarter at my time at Green River.
With the network and printing being of great service at Green River i therefore rate them an A+.

The campus academic resources are very helpful. Green River Community College provides excellent student services in the library and other parts around campus to help students achieve academic excellence which is why i rate the resources an A-. The only issue keeping Green River Community College from an A+ rating is the lack of enthusiasm in campus life. There are not many interesting activities during the day that engages students to mingle and get to know one another, to make them feel more secure in there institution.

I have taken a few online classes through Green River Community College. In my experience with them I have learned that each class differs dramatically in how often you must visit the class: for check ins, bulletin board posts and replies, and structure. Every teacher structures his/her class differently in how the students get to navigate the class. It has been hard to communicate with the teacher and your peers because of the delayed response, and it's easy to overlook peers and have little hope in having your questions answered by the teacher. Due dates change and if there are any mistakes in the given assignment description major delays are caused and when grades are affected some teachers don't own up to their mistakes. Overall if you can take the same class on campus do it anytime over an online class.

There is everything from a Physics Club to Debate, Anime, and there was a really random Skit Club. If you cant find SOMEWHERE to fit in it's most likely because you're not trying. There are always little GreenRiver events put on too like the Fun Run and some other cool student and public events.

Free Wifi for all students and although there are sometimes problems with logging in via laptop the techs, librarians and/or other students can usually help. The internet speed is pretty great as well. There are computer labs everywhere. Most of the laptops and desktops are up to date or advanced. It's really nice.

It's not too bad. For a Community College we're pretty blessed. The Athletic Centers are varied from out-dated to better modernized machinery ie. Weight Room versus some of the other classes. The library is friggin huge and has awesome resources but you can hardly ever find a computer when you need one. if you know the library a bit better, there are nooks and crannies perfect for dozing off-- or studying ;).

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The school it's self is an overall good school. I completed my AA degree there. As a warning they have real issues with their Financial Aid office. There is a breakdown in their application process, for some reason they can't complete the applications even a couple weeks into the semester. Their director needs to visit other colleges and universities and restructure their process. 1) GRCC will drop you from your classes, and 2) your aid can be up to two months late, even if your Fasfa is approved, 3) They will hold your refund and distribute it in 2 disbursement payments, beginning of quarter (if your lucky!) and then 6 weeks in! No one lump some like other schools!
I have gone to 2 other colleges and 1 other university, all of them no matter how late my paperwork, even if I finished turning in paperwork the week before school, I would wait no more then 2 weeks after school started for my refund. No threat of being dropped from classes, if you don't pay at the end of the quarter they will just put a hold on your transcript and/or not let you enroll in next quarter. a guarantee they get their money at some point. Their employee count in the financial aid department, exact same as GRCC.
Also with the university I went to they had a book charge option, so if you had been approved for financial aid through Fasfa, you could charge your books and supplies to an account at the book store. You signed a waiver of course showing responsibility for the books and supplies signed for, all you had to have was your state ID or school ID. This all prior to receiving your aid this way kids had their books before their aid and the store made a ton of money; win win! Kids would spend mad amounts of money on supplies, back packs, lap tops and text books.
So it seems like someone needs to lose their job or someone needs to address the problem. The school is losing capital from students getting dropped from classes, scarred off by threats of being dropped, scarred off by not being able to afford books, getting scared off by not having their student loan money to live off of and not buying books and supplies through their store! Some real poor management going on, especially for a learning institution! I'm a business student and can see the problem don't get why management can't or GRCC isn't in the game to make money!

Career services are hit and miss. I have gone to a few of the counselors due to schedule avalibility which was fine. However, even if asking the same question, I will get different answers. Make sure your questions are very clear so you get the correct one. Again though, they try the best they can to help and often are helpful.

I cant really say enough good things about GRCC. With the exception of a few professors, the majority is great and extremely helpful. Class registration is a breeze and you are usually able to get into your first choice classes. The workload is difficult but managable, especially if you budget your time. GRCC also offers many tutuoring programs throughout the week.

I went for a general AA so my classes were all over the place and the classes I am taking now are just for prerequisites for my doctorate. Classes however are great and the majority of the teachers are awesome! I believe that community college teachers often care more about their students and are therefore more helpful.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The cost of tuition at Green River is very reasonable. However, the financial aid department is not very helpful. I went to GRCC for my AA degree and am going back for prerequisites for my doctorate and for the first time in about three years of attendance there, I finally had received help and got the information that I needed from the financial aid department. This could have been due to the fact that I had my father call and talk for me.

The main reason I was concerned about when taking my first online class was not being able to speak with the professor when I had a question, but so far most of the professors have been great with getting back to most of my questions and concerns, as well as my ideas.

I feel that Green River has an excellent program with Elementary Education. After I get my Associates there will be a lot of doors open for me to start working with kids all through the program provided at this school. Most of the desires and goals I want to achieve is very self served, meaning no body is going to push you towards the career, you must do it all on your own.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Arriving at the Financial aid's office it was crazy, the lines were long. I waited about 3 hours just to talk to someone. I had filled out all the information required. When I finally got to talk with someone they rejected me right away and said to go back to the computer and complete the requirements that I had missed. I tried asking what is it that I had missed and she was already calling the next person to the desk.

I took a lot of online classes during my first couple semesters. While traveling abroad to a third world country, (family matter) the internet was not that great. My mid-term was coming up and I had to travel a ways away to the mall and take my test, about half way the internet connection was lost. When I had told my professor he did not understand and failed me. I was upset that he would not let me re-take the test.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
