| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
- Finding a job in Grinnell isn’t difficult. It’s fairly easy to find campus employment, whether it be in the dining halls (where most work-study students end up), the newspaper, or as a lab assistant.
- Finding a job in town can be slightly more difficult, but between the local restaurants and video rental stores, if one can effectively compete with high school students, jobs are available.
- The College funds some internships that are exclusively for Grinnell students to the tune of a few thousand dollars. Also, if students can find other internships, Grinnell will often pay students a stipend for them. Most Grinnell students take the opportunity to do an internship or summer scientific research at some point in their college careers.
- The only real problem with working for the College is that the hours tend to be short because there’s simply not enough work to go around.
- There are always people in the Career Development Office who would love to do everything they can to help you score the perfect job, before or after graduation. Just keep your eyes and ears open for announcements.
- While there aren’t many internships available on campus, the Career Development Office has listings of many different internships that students can take advantage of during the summer.
