Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Professors set high standards and students often sweat to reach them. In fact, some freshmen gulp when they get their first-semester midterm grades. Many students live out Edison’s maxim about genius—“one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” There are very few slackers around, and even students with traditionally less stressful majors typically add a minor or take a few tough classes to expand their minds. Engineering and biology majors are known for long hours at the library, and education majors seem forever occupied with lesson plans and projects. All these hard workers blend in with their peers because the student body is known for its strong work ethic and wide range of interests.

Hard-working students rarely outdo their professors. Profs at GCC carry more classes and focus less on personal research projects than their associates at other highly-ranked institutions. Even busy schedules and an occasional book publication don’t keep our professors from stated office hours, posting home numbers on syllabi, and even hosting activities at their own homes. They are almost always there for their students. Students expect their profs to challenge and help them. Profs, in turn, expect their students to think hard and participate in discussions—especially in social sciences and humanities classes. Often, professors incorporate their faith into class by prayer or discussion about Christian viewpoints. Of course, there are a few less-than-wonderful professors around, so be sure to talk to an upperclassman and get the scoop on the best profs and the few you should try to avoid.

Absolutely Worth the Effort

Grove City College definately lives up to its tag-line of "Academically Rigorous, Authenticaly Christian and an Amazing Value." The vast majority of the professors have the highest possible degree in his or her field, and they are always willing to share that expertise to those who are willing to seek out help. They won't hold your hand, they work you hard but if you can make it through the program you will be well-equipped for the real world.

Profs Are Very Accessible

All professors in this field are incredibly accessible to students, both in the major and simply in the classes. Professors offer tons of insightful knowledge about all topics in the field and are more than willing to share with students and consider students' opinions.

Excellent Academic Example for Our Country

The professors at Grove City College demonstrated such interest and investment in each student, which compelled me to study there. Their Business department is stellar because it provides current and relevant information, as well as winning tactics to succeed in the American work force. Smaller classes encourage discussion, which makes it very rewarding to attend.
