A nice, small-town feeling, and it is usually very quiet and peaceful. Members of the community have been helpful and considerate, whether it was for a drive or some other community service project. There are not many places to stay away from, but when visiting, there are a couple of places that you shouldn’t miss. Wendell August Forge has a great gift shop and produces some pretty amazing decorative plates. Also, the outlet malls attract people from all over the area, and their prices and selection can rarely be beaten. |

My personal favorite—Rachel’s. It’s a great restaurantGood atmosphere, decent prices, and great food. I also like Eat ‘n Park if I don’t want a serious meal (good place for going for a snack with friends). Personally, though, I don’t eat out much. Why spend money when they’ll give me passable food that I’ve already paid for? |

Compared to most state schools, the dorms are very nice. The rooms are a decent size. North, the freshman dorm, is great if you’re in a double. Forced triples, three put in a room for two, sound awful, but work out fine if you get along with your roomies. Most freshman girls are put in triples. It’s cozy, but there is still a decent amount of floor space. The best women’s dorm is South (West is similar, but older). It has suites—two dorm rooms sharing a bathroom. The other dorms, Harker and MEP, are decent, but have hall bathrooms. The disadvantage of these two is that the furniture is bolted down and the floor space is minimal. MEP has a good amount of storage space, however. |

There is not a whole lot of variety here, but I do like that they always have a salad bar and cereal in case the main entrée isn’t all too appetizing. The Gee is the only place on campus that offers better quality food you can buy. |

This College teaches European culture to the descendants of those Europeans. There are very few people of color here, and it is a serious problem. When I interviewed at the college, I asked my interviewer why there seemed to be so few non-white people here. He gave me a rather flimsy answer about how the College is working on that, and, I have to say, I don’t think that the College has made an effort to reach out to students of color. This creates a campus where diversity is gauged by what church denomination you belong to, instead of an actual diversity of people and views. This, in turn, insulates people from what they will encounter in the real world, and is one of the defining characteristics of the Grove City ‘bubble.’ |

About as diverse as white rice. |

I’ve often heard it said that...
I’ve often heard it said that Grove City has a short supply of ‘hot’ girls. However, it depends on what you like. Most girls dress nicely, but few are walking advertisements of the latest fashion. Most girls have priorities other than fashion, such as their faith and education; thus I think there’s a fine bunch of ladies who are attractive on the outside and inside. For those accustomed to a very candid environment of relations between the sexes, they will find Grove City to be a change. It’s not unusual for a Grover to have never kissed a member of the opposite gender, and ‘hooking up’ virtually never means what it means in most other places. |

There are so many quality guys and girls at Grove CityWe have our share of ‘hot’ students, but what stands out the most is that there are so many people with incredible personalities and enthusiasm for life and for God. |

Like any campus, there are some guys that are of a higher quality than other men, and the same is true for the women. However, I believe there is a greater percentage of the quality men and women on our campus. It is so refreshing compared to my public high school! A lot of the people, for instance are truly interested in God, and that is encouraging, as well as inspiring. |

Greek life does exist much to the dismay of administration. It is slowly dying out because not many sheltered Grovers want to join anything with a connotation of being partiers. Any party that occurs happens because of the Greeks, which causes other students to look down on Greek life as being a bunch of heathens. There is also something that is a sore subject on campus, which is housing groups. These are a bunch of male students who live together, wear Greek letters, pretend to be Greek, but do not pledge. Ask anyone at a ‘real’ college if housing groups exist and they will laugh in your face. |

The campus claims to be very strict about any illegal substances. They show no mercy when people are caught. It’s the catching people that poses the most problem, but since being there I haven’t heard of many problems. |

If you get caught, you’re probably going home, either for a week or for good. A lot goes on that isn’t caught, but at least in the freshman dorms, alcohol under the bed isn’t much of an option. Most of the RAs in the freshman dorms run a fun, but tight, ship, and they know what goes on among their guys. There are a couple exceptions. (Ketler boys get away with a lot, and the ghetto of Crawford third floor can be a free zone.) What you can get away with all depends on your RA, but you will see extremely little drugs, drinking, and sex in the freshman dorms, or more likely, none at all. |

There is a zero-tolerance policy about drugs and drinking on campus (and off). If you’re caught, you will be suspended or expelled. |

I am very content going to school here. There is no chance for me to become lazy. The schoolwork keeps me on my toes, working keeps me busy, friends keep me sociable, and God keeps me going. |

I love Grove City. I’ve been happy with it from day one, but I know it’s not for everyone. It has been a time of learning and growth, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. In fact, I really want to study abroad, but I’m hesitant to miss out on a whole semester of life at the Grove! It’s a neat place to be. |

My personal experience at the school has been mixed. I like the school and the professors, but the atmosphere has been sometimes difficult to be in. |

The school has definite ups and downs. Its small size allows people to get involved in many organizations easily, and there are many friendly people at the school. It is a friendly environment, but I think at times too friendly. Many students come from sheltered backgrounds, and they’re never really challenged to grow beyond those backgrounds. Also, the college’s rules are rather stringent, and some of them, such as inter-visitation rules, seem to only hurt those who care about following them, as those who don’t care break the rules constantly. |

I really love being at GCC. I have made some really good friends here, as well as some good friends with people other than GCC students—people who just live in the area. The students are generally very nice, as well as the professors. The student body doesn’t tend to be very ‘cliquey.’ There are different social circles, but for the most part, everyone is friendly to everyone else. There is a nice, Christian atmosphere at GCC. The classes are very challenging, and sometimes things get very stressful (especially when one realizes on a Friday that one has a paper due the following Monday), but the type of students here are very hardworking and driven—you have to be to make it at GCC. But all in all, it is a very good college to be at. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. |

I absolutely love Grove City and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It is a small school, but you really feel a sense of family. The campus is beautiful, and people are easy to get along with. Classes are really challenging, and there is definitely above the average in regards to work and study load, but if that bothers you, you can just change your major to communications or elementary education. |

I love Grove City College. I...
I love Grove City College. I believe in what it stands for—freedom from government control and adherence to conservative lifestyles. We don’t accept government money. But, we have a lot of rules. Some of them are kind of silly at times, admittedly. But for the most part, they are very good and help to form a strong moral fiber to the campus community. Don’t come expecting to have people question your Christian faith (though they’ll slam any other faith you may have). Religious questions center more on predestination than the existence of God. Political questions center more on how small government should be rather than whether it should be large or small. Grove City provides an excellent ground for you to examine and strengthen your belief system, but on a solid conservative Christian basis. I can honestly say, I can think of nowhere else I would rather be. |

I really love Grove City. It has taken me three transfers to find a school that fits. Grove City is where I want to be. I’ve grown a lot spiritually, mentally, and physically because of the group of friends I surrounded myself with. Grove City College, college in general, and life is what you make it. If you spend your whole time complaining about something, you’re not going to be very happy. If something really bothers you, fix it, don’t just whine. |

Ever hear the term ‘beer goggles?’ Well, a friend and I came up with the term ‘Grover Goggles’ my freshman year. Basically, the student body at Grove City College is not the most pleasing on the eyes. Therefore you need ‘Grover Goggles’ when looking for a potential date. Also, the student body needs some serious help when dressing themselves. You’ll see a lot of prairie skirts on girls and too short of shorts on boys. A Makeover Story on TLC could have a field day on our campus. |
