There's a notable selection of delicious food off campus, no matter your fancy (or whether you're looking for fancy or not). Even with traffic, most types of cuisine are less than 20 minutes away, and quite a few are within walking or biking distance. There is a diverse variety of local spots from which to choose, as well as almost any restaurant chain you can think of about a 10-minute drive away in either Wendover or Battleground. The Quaker Village, located across West Friendly Avenue at the front of the campus, is home to many Guilford students' favorites. There's homestyle pizza at Elizabeth's Pizza, and delivery services abound. Through trial and error, many have discovered the best Chinese delivery is King House. There are also several authentic Mexican restaurants nearby, including Amigos.
Vegetarian and vegan folks adore both the Quaker Center's Pita Works and Tate Street's Boba House. For the carnivores, there's juicy steak that goes well with dark, fresh-brewed beer at Red Oak, the local brewery. There are other ethnic options readily available all over town, including Japanese and Greek restaurants. Tate Street, located near the campus of UNCG, is another culinary hot spot and home to many shops, music, and youth culture. As for other fast food, the best is the Triad favorite, Cook Out! It has locations across the city; the drive-thru is open until either 2 a.m. or 4 a.m. If after-midnight options are what you're craving, there are several late-night diners where you'll likely run into other GuilCo insomniacs. Such places are Jake's on Wendover, right next to another favorite, the Waffle House.
