Before 2003, it was been very difficult to get permission to move off campus until you were at least a senior or a continuing education student (over 25 years of age). However, the past couple of years, the entering freshman population broke record numbers. Therefore, residential life has been forced to grant more requests due to a lack of adequate on- campus housing. There is affordable living in a lovely setting close to campus, such as in the neighborhoods of Friendly Hills and Madison Woods. If you are searching for a historic, beautiful house in a large off-campus college community, you only have to travel a bit further.

Generally, students find it easier and beneficial to stay involved with the Guilford community by living on campus. The alternative houses and the student apartments are similar to more independent living situations, but without the hassle of having to keep track of all the bills. However, those who do live off campus are happy and pleased with their decision and accommodations. If you’re an independant person, then living off campus is a practical option.

There's a Ton of Them!

There is a number of places right around the school for off-campus housing, Legacy and Westborough especially. The conditions are great with a 24-hour diner, CVS and Harris Teeter right there as well. The prices are decent as well, ranging from 600 for a single bedroom to 800 for more than one. These two are within walking distance of the school or a bike ride. There are a number further off.
