Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Guilford is a wonderful place to be if you are looking for a small liberal arts college experience. Guilford does not attract the types of people who go to standard, huge state schools with flourishing Greek scenes and near-professional football programs. In many different respects, students adore their school, the atmosphere, and their peers. Guilford allows (and expects) you to be independent academically, but you must be willing to work to get the most out of your education here. Although it is a good bit harder to “slip through the cracks” at Guilford, it is certainly possible to fail out. The majority of students feel sufficiently and appropriately challenged academically, although some say it all really depends on your department. Others don’t bother to do the work, or take the easiest classes possible and end up taking extra years to graduate, then complain about it all the while. Those who are happy tend to make the most out of their time on campus. Get involved in the Guilford community, have fun, and try to do most of your work.

Guilford students are good at voicing their opinions. Sometimes this is productive, while other concerns and suggestions are disregarded by the college altogether. Pay attention to changes that happen, and give someone important your opinion as a student. Guilford’s traditional ideals are geared toward community involvement and in major decisions that affect all that are connected to the college. Despite any gripes that students have with Guilford, most think that the other aspects weigh out enough that they stay and love it. Guilford is a place to meet interesting people and make devoted friends for life. Nearly all that have spent time at Guilford depart with a distinct fondness for some part of the experience. Students tend to leave the college fulfilled, mentally and physically exhausted, and full of pride for their alma mater and degree.

Been Pretty Good

Experience has been good, but not great. There are many cliques and it gives a feeling of exclusivity. Once people have a group of friends, they don't feel the need to interact outside of that group. Academics has been good. The professors are nice, but don't always know as much as they claim. The campus itself is beautiful. Trees and greenery everywhere.

I Love Guilford and You Will Too !

I love Guilford. When I say this to people they often think I'm saying this just because I attend there. But when your on campus you have a desire to get involved with activities on and off campus. You have a desire to do community service, to often move out of your comfort zone to check out different perspectives and you have an overall desire to matriculate. This school is writing intensive which gives us the edge over a lot of other college students. You have to really work hard to be in this school. In the classroom you are driven to learn more by your teachers and peers because your constantly surrounded by people who have high ambitions.

A Wonderful Experience.

I have truly enjoyed my first semester here at Guilford College as a non - traditional student. There are ample students in my age range that are attending classes at night to obtain a degree. The professors I have are most professional, friendly, approachable, knowledgable and ready to assist me and other students when in need. I'm enjoying my courses and looking forward to continuing my education here. In addition, the beautiful landscape and well maintained edifices are welcoming. What a wonderful experience!
