Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Thank goodness that Mankato is just down the road; otherwise, students would expend their off-campus dining options within the first week of the school year. While St. Peter has many local establishments that offer delicious vittles (a milkshake at Ruttles, breakfast at Ooodles, ranch fries at Patrick’s, or a smoothie at River Rock), one of its small-town charms is the fact that there are fewer chain restaurants than what would normally be found in a larger city. The best food in St. Peter can’t be found on just any street corner.

Mankato, on the other hand, offers a welcome reprieve when you are craving something more. Mankato is stockpiled with chain restaurants, including college student favorites such as Chipotle and Noodles & Company. For those willing to seek out restaurants beyond the chains, there are a few unique spots: Yu’s offers excellent Chinese food (be sure to hit up the buffet on Saturday evenings), Bonito Guadalajara doles out fantastic Mexican cuisine, and Neighbor’s is the primo date locale (you even get free wine if you have to wait for a table). What both St. Peter and Mankato severely lack is variety, and after four years, students with ethnic tastebuds find themselves having to drive to the Twin Cities when they are hankering for food with flair.

Off Campus Dining

Not many restaurants nearby, but Domino's and Erbert's & Gerbert's are always great options late on weekends or for a study break.

Off-Campus Dining

In St Peter there are not a lot of places to eat. The most popular is Patricks, which is a grill and bar. There are also a few fast food places but that's about it. There are a lot more options in Mankato but you will need a car to get there.
