How to Get to the Airport
- The Mankato Land-Air Shuttle will take you to the airport for about $10; otherwise, you need to find a willing friend or check out the Ride Board in the Campus Center to see if anyone is headed in that direction. Mankato Land Air 434 Patterson Ave., Mankato (507) 625-3977 www.landtoairexpress.com
College Prowler Take
Here’s a rule to live by: either own a car, or know somebody that does. Being a small town located an hour south of a major metropolitan area, St. Peter lacks any form of viable public transportation. The city offers the St. Peter Shuttle, which will take students anywhere in town for a small fee, and the Student Senate managed to arrange free operation on weekend nights (i.e., the Drunk Bus) for students heading to “key drop-off points” (i.e., the bars). The only other way to get around town is by car, foot, or bike. For necessary trips into Mankato, find a ride, or simply hope they have what you need at the grocery store down the hill. The College generally sponsors bus trips to the Twin Cities where students can go shopping, check out a sporting event, or attend a play, but these usually only occur monthly. For a ride to the airport, pick up a ticket at the Student Activities Office or find a nice friend that is headed in your direction. Also, check out the Ride Board, located in the Campus Center, where students can make posts if they need a ride or if they would be willing to give one. Luckily, there is no restriction on which students can bring cars to campus, so if you are far away from home and can afford a parking permit, it would definitely be worth any hassle of having a car on campus.

There is not a public system that brings students to Mankato, so students rely on each other for trips into Mankato, but it never seems to be a problem to get where you need to go. |

There is no public transportation unless it is Friday or Saturday night. At that point, it is free. |

There is a great service that operates on a call-in basis on the weekends that can take you into town when it is well below zero degrees. Most of the time, though, you can drive down the hill or walk it. |

There is a lack of public transportation, with the exception of the drunk bus, which travels the popular circle route in St. Peter on Friday and Saturday nights. Luckily, if you really need to get into town, the grocery store and a few restaurants are within a lengthy, but doable, walking distance. |

There is a St. Peter Shuttle...
There is a St. Peter Shuttle available for students who need to get downtown or work/volunteer in town, but I’m not sure how it works. Most students have cars or friends with cars who make frequent trips into town or Mankato. Gustavus also offers monthly shuttles into Mankato and a shuttle to the Mall of America every few months, as well as shuttles to the airport at semester breaks. |
Public Transportation
The shuttle charges a nominal fee during the week and is free (for Gustavus students) on the weekends.
