With the economy as tough as it is, it can be hard to break into the job market. HCC suggests resources such as College Central Network and other sites to help students find jobs. The College also offers internships to help students get experience, and contacts to increase their chances of getting a job in their field after graduation. The Office of Human Resources lists on-campus job opportunities in addition to regular job postings (available for viewing on the office's website). The office records the positions that the student is applying for and gives him or her an application, which is then filled out and turned into the applicable department. After the application is reviewed, students may be contacted for an interview.
College Central Network also helps students and graduates find jobs. Approved employers post job opportunities on CNN, which can then be accessed by HCC students and alumni. A resume builder helps students construct a resume, which is then uploaded to "Resume Central." In addition to creating and uploading a resume, students can also build online portfolios to complement the resume, and demonstrate skill and experience to possible employers. Career advice documents, videos, and articles from more than 100 authors are also available for students to glean tips and wisdom from or to augment their job search results.
