College Prowler Take
As far as varsity sports are concerned, Hamilton students go all out. The intimate size of Hamilton means each student will have a friend, roommate, or classmate on each and every team. Friends are the main supporters of athletes, and friends are willing to come out and get fired up. A group called the Dog Pound is the most well known of group of supporters, though. It’s hard to miss their screaming and their brightly painted chests. Intramural sports play a gigantic role in the social and athletic lives of most Hamilton students. Competition is high during these events, and during certain IM seasons, IM games are all you will hear about. The IM season is run by students, so it can become disorganized, but students make the most of it and have a great time.

I think Hamilton is one of the few...
I think Hamilton is one of the few schools in which so many students participate in IM sports. It seems as though almost the same number of people playing varsity sports are playing IM sports. It is nice that there are options for people who are not as serious about sports to have IM games in which to participate. |

Varsity sports are quite big here; however, there are not many jocks on campus. If you want to spend your Saturdays watching good college football, look elsewhere. |

Hamilton is pretty big on sports...
Hamilton is pretty big on sports for a small school. There’s a fair amount of spirit in the Hamilton community, and there are lots of student athletes. A lot of students get involved in IM sports and have fun with it. |

School Spirit
The Dog Pound is made up of students that want to support Hamilton sports, primarily basketball and football. Students dress up in Halloween costumes or they come bare-chested and painted in school colors. Nobody knows how to excite a crowd like the Dog Pound. Some have even gotten out and danced along with the dance team at halftime.
Getting Tickets
There is rarely a problem getting into a sporting event. The most popular event is the Citrus Bowl in Sage Rink, and for this hockey game, you definitely need to get there early. Also popular is the homecoming football game at Steuben Field.
Most Popular Sports
Football, basketball, lacrosse, and hockey usually have the largest turnouts. Intramural sports are also very popular across campus.
Most Overlooked Teams
Volleyball experiences low attendance rates, and so does rugby. Both the men’s and women’s crew teams travel for hours to their regattas, so their presence is less visible to the campus. In general, women’s sports tend to have low attendance rates. However, close friends will stop by for support.
Best Place to Take a Walk
