| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
Visit the Career Center early in your Hamilton education. There are job counselors that each have a specialty. They are more than willing to help students with whatever they need. Counseling sessions offer résumé and cover letter tips, mock interview advice, and career advising. Additionally, the counselors are available for help with other post-graduate paths, including law or medical school. The office is open to students of all class years, and the earlier you begin your search, the more possibilities you will encounter in the future. The counselors will get to know you, and you will begin to know the counselors. The better the relationship you have with them, the better your chances of getting a job after college. Remember though, a small amount of career counselors for an entire college means that you need to schedule appointments early. Additionally, make sure to put effort into your career search on your own time. Check deadlines and double check. As with everything in life, do not blindly follow career advice. The counselors are knowledgeable, but they cannot know everything about every career. Make sure you do your own research in addition to the work done at the Career Center.
